Cambridge Distillery is a luxury gin distillery and producer based in Cambridge. They offer a wide product range of innovative and high-end gins, alongside various experiences and services such as bespoke gin tailoring.
Cambridge Distillery came to us with a brief to fully redesign their website so that it would reflect their luxury standing and elevate their online image from a high-craft and local gin brand to a luxury brand making the world’s best gin.

Brand Elevation: UX and UI Design
The new website needed to reflect Cambridge Distillery’s luxury quality, and elevate their brand’s online presence from a local gin brand to a strong contender in the world of luxury spirits. With a focus on the luxury market, the UI design draws from the world of luxury perfume and fashion with an editorial, immersive and elegant look and feel.
The decision was made to separate their product offering into different collections and categories to both guide users down the relevant customer journey, and instill a sense of upwards aspiration and curiosity towards their most exclusive products.
THE GIN LABORATORY
As well as their Gin collections, Cambridge Distillery offers different experiences that can be booked directly on their website. The Cambridge Gin Laboratory, which offers various gin tasting and mixing classes, was a key consideration for them. With it’s own branding, personality and offering, they felt it may be suited to its own separate website, but didn’t want to lose the benefit to sales of keeping it centralised.
Following our recommendation, we were tasked with housing the Gin laboratory section on their main website, ensuring it maintained its own identity while also incorporating it into the overall look and feel of the new design. This gave us the opportunity to differentiate the Laboratory section itself, while allowing for the conversion and upsell benefits of centreing all of Cambridge Distillery’s products and services on one online platform.
A Robust Technical Setup
Built on Shopify, one key consideration for Cambridge Distillery was ensuring that Shopify was configured in a way that allowed for flexibility over the content to keep the website updated with ease. During the build we took this into consideration, developing a range of modules with flexible content solutions, such as a number of video modules to house their beautiful video content, and a multi-purpose promotional banner. The result is a fast, high performing website which is easily managed and updated through Shopify.
